Madame X Restructured

This portrait is an homage to Sargent's "Madame X", while the X shape of the canvas itself is an homage to Malcolm Morley's red X that he painted over his photorealist painting. I wanted to make a portrait that was based on a photograph, but had almost no illusion of a photographic image as a whole. This is almost purely a record of the process of my having painted this picture. This is Photorealism as a process-based form of Conceptualism.
