Jason; Single Increment Grid Paintings
The background pattern is made of comic strips and pages from Interview magazine. The pattern is a tesselation of the outline of a face with teeth and eyeballs coming out of it. The outline of the whole pattern is of skateboards, pirate ships, and raptors. Over the pattern are 5 canvases. They are all striped paintings of my friend Jason. The point in painting him five times was to show, and even exaggerate, the amount of human error that occurs within each increment of a photorealist painting.
